Course aims: To improve delegates' understanding of the coaching
process, develop their skills in coaching, and enable them to introduce a coaching culture within the workplace.
Course aimed at: Managers who will be providing formal or informal
coaching to their staff.
Course length: Two days (9.30 am to 4.30 pm with some evening work)
Prerequisites: Delegates should have had some experience of managing
staff and providing feedback.
Training method: Highly interactive and participative format that will
give delegates plenty of opportunity to practise coaching techniques and to handle a range of coaching situations. Accelerated learning techniques will be used throughout the course to teach and reinforce key learning points.
Evaluation method: Variety of formal and informal practical exercises.
Assessment will be provided in various ways including observation of coaching sessions. Constructive feedback will be provided along with an individual development plan where required.
Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this course delegates will be able to:

  • Identify what helps and what hinders the coaching process
  • Use the skills of effective coaching - questioning, listening,
    observing and giving feedback
  • Recognise your own skills as a coach and define areas for future development
  • Enhance your skills as a coach including the use of feedback to help individuals develop
  • Identify coaching opportunities to develop staff
  • Bring on the development of your team by effective coaching
  • Understand a variety of coaching models and strategies and when to use them
  • Feel confident running one-to-one coaching sessions in the work environment
  • Develop a Coaching Action Plan for use in the workplace
